Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Medical Center in Houston, TX is seeking a Registered Nurse PRN to support operating room services. You will evaluate patients prior to surgery, educate families, and ensure patient safety throughout peri‑operative care.

The role requires RN licensure, BLS within 30 days of start date, and 3 years of pre/post‑op experience. You’ll work as part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team delivering evidence-based patient care.

Qualifications

• RN license required.
• BLS within 30 days of start date.
• Registered Nurse Diploma, or Bachelors Degree, or Associate Degree.
• 3 years of Pre and Post Op experience.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy and preoperative medications.
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with best practices.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team.
• Apply nursing process and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Assess patient condition and document changes during shift.
• Educate patients and families about medical conditions and follow-up.
