Job summary

Boulder Centre for Orthopedics is seeking an Observation Extended Care Unit RN to support post-operative recovery in a fast-paced orthopedic setting. You will collaborate with surgeons, physical therapists, and the care team, manage pain, monitor recovery, document care, and educate patients and families on home care.

This PRN onsite role offers 12-hour shifts, day and night options, with a $50/hour wage and a $7 night differential, plus ongoing education and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred.
• Current Colorado RN license is required.
• BCLS & ACLS certification required.
• Minimum 2 years RN experience in a professional medical setting; orthopedic care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert postoperative care and monitor patient recovery.
• Collaborate with surgeons, physical therapists, and the care team on individualized plans.
• Manage pain and symptoms, administer medications, and use non-medication interventions.
• Perform wound care and educate patients and families on recovery at home.
• Document care accurately and uphold infection control and safety standards.
• Offer emotional support to help patients feel confident and cared for.

Education

Position Details:

Department: Convalescent Care

Reports to: Clinical Director

Schedule/Type: PRN – onsite/hourly

Days: Monday–Friday, variable

Shifts: 12-hour shifts available – Day Shift: 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. | Night Shift: 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Wage: $50/hr.

Night Shift Differential: Additional $7/hr. for shifts worked from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Bonus Eligibility: No

Requirements

• Nursing degree (Bachelor’s preferred)
• Current Colorado RN license
• BCLS & ACLS certification
• 2 years experience as an RN in a professional medical setting required, orthopedic care experience (strongly preferred)
