Job summary

Hickory Trail Hospital in DeSoto, Texas, part of Universal Health Services, seeks an experienced Intake/Admissions RN to support timely access to behavioral health care for children, adolescents, adults and seniors.

The RN conducts nursing assessments, evaluates needs with the care team, and documents referrals to ensure safe, efficient admissions. A Texas RN license and psychiatric facility experience are preferred; CPI and CPR training are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred.
• Current Texas RN license; CPR and CPI training recommended.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments and document findings.
• Evaluate medical and behavioral health needs with providers and admissions team.
• Coordinate admissions to ensure safe, timely, and welcoming process.

What You’ll Do - Intake/Admissions RN

The Admissions/Intake RN helps patients and families take the first step toward care at Hickory Trail Hospital. This role conducts and documents nursing assessments, evaluates medical and behavioral health needs, and works with providers and the admissions team to determine the appropriate next steps. The RN also responds to referrals, communicates with patients, families, and referral sources, and helps make each admission safe, timely, and welcoming.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience: A minimum of three (3) years' experience in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred.
• Licensure: Current license to practice nursing by the Texas State Board of Nursing. (or eligible to receive or renew).
• Additional: A working knowledge of the DSM-IVR and the Mental Status Exam. A working knowledge of the Addiction and Recovery field. CPR certification and successful completion of CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training. Training may be obtained during new hire orientation.
