Job summary

Acadia Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive pre- and post-treatment care for patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). You will assist medical staff during therapy, monitor vital signs, and ensure patient safety throughout treatment and recovery.

The role requires active ACLS, IV certification, CPR and de-escalation training, with a patient-centered approach and collaborative teamwork in the ECT suite.

Qualifications

• Provide nursing care in pre- and post-treatment for ECT patients.
• Coordinate with treatment team for pre-treatment assessments, monitoring, and post-anesthesia recovery management.
• Participate in development and evaluation of nursing practices in the ECT Suite.

Responsibilities

• Provide education about the ECT procedure and obtain understanding from patient and family.
• Work within the treatment team to provide pre-treatment assessment, treatment monitoring and post-anesthesia recovery management for patients and assure the smooth flow of patients through the ECT process.
• Participate in development and evaluation of nursing practices provided in the clinical setting and the overall function of the clinical area including the ECT Suite.
• Use multiple data sources to determine actual/potential health issues, functional status and safety concerns.
• Communicate patient’s condition and need for altered care with treatment team.
• Establish a therapeutic alliance with assigned patients, initiates and continues pulse oximetry, oxygen saturation and EKG monitoring throughout treatment and recovery.
• Demonstrate safe, accurate and timely monitoring of cardiac and respiratory status and promote interventions that provide the least-restrictive and safest recovery.

Licenses/Designations/Certifications

• Current RN License as required by state.
• Current ACLS certification and Current IV Certification required.
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
