Job summary

Harboroaks in Nashville, TN seeks an RN to provide comprehensive nursing care for patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). You will educate patients and families, participate in pre- and post-treatment care, and ensure patient safety throughout the ECT process.

You will monitor vital signs, coordinate with the treatment team, and contribute to ongoing nursing practice improvements within the ECT suite. Strong communication and a compassionate, professional attitude are essential.

Qualifications

• Current RN license required by state.
• ACLS and IV certifications required.
• CPR, de-escalation and restraint certifications required.
• First aid may be required depending on state or facility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Educate patients about the ECT procedure and ensure understanding.
• Assist with pre-treatment assessment, treatment monitoring and post-anesthesia recovery management.
• Participate in development and evaluation of nursing practices in the ECT suite.
• Use data sources to identify health issues, functional status and safety concerns.
• Communicate patient status and need for care changes with the treatment team.
• Monitor pulse oximetry, oxygen saturation and EKG during treatment and recovery.
• Promote safe, least-restrictive recovery and timely interventions.

Overview

PURPOSE STATEMENT:

Responsible for all pre and post treatment care of patients receiving ECT as well as assisting the medical staff during the administering of the therapy. When scheduled, provide nursing care in a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers at all times. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Provide education about the ECT procedure and obtain a level of understanding from the patient and family.
• Work within the treatment team to provide pre-treatment assessment, treatment monitoring and post-anesthesia recovery management for patients and assure the smooth flow of patients through the ECT process.
• Participate in development and evaluation of nursing practices provided in the clinical setting and the overall function of the clinical area including the ECT Suite.
• Use multiple data sources to determine actual/potential health issues, functional status and safety concerns.
• Communicate patient’s condition and need for altered care with treatment team.
• Establish a therapeutic alliance with assigned patients, initiates and continues pulse oximetry, oxygen saturation and EKG monitoring throughout treatment and recovery.
• Demonstrate safe, accurate and timely monitoring of cardiac and respiratory status and promote interventions that provide the least-restrictive and safest recovery.

Qualifications

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Current RN License as required by state.
• Current ACLS certification and Current IV Certification required.
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
