Job summary

Summit BHC's Las Cruces Recovery Center in Las Cruces, NM is seeking a Registered Nurse - PRN. The onsite RN provides nursing care, supervises LPNs/CNAs, and develops individual plans of care for clients in a behavioral health setting.

Responsibilities include assessment, medication administration, documentation, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care. Required: RN license and CPR; prior psychiatric experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved/accredited nursing program.
• 1+ year nursing experience in clinical/psychiatric settings preferred.
• Experience in behavioral health/addiction recovery preferred.
• Knowledge of psychotropic medications and administration procedures.
• Ability to apply nursing standards in acute psychiatric setting.

Responsibilities

• Assess and plan individualized care; maintain medical records; educate clients and families.
• Assess client status and communicate findings to providers.
• Transcribe and verify provider orders per policy.
• Administer medications using two identifiers.
• Document and monitor PRN meds; ensure medication security.
• Coordinate care with treatment team; participate in unit activities.
• Provide medication education to clients and families.
• Ensure thorough hand-off reports to oncoming staff.
• Monitor client acuity and staffing needs; escalate as needed.
