Job summary

United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform blood draws, blood cultures, and non-blood specimen collections including urine and sputum. The role requires venipuncture skills and proper labeling, with attention to chain of custody when applicable.

You will operate basic lab equipment, communicate with patients and staff, and perform clerical duties such as filing and report distribution. At least six months of phlebotomy experience and CPT certification preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Consistently collects blood and blood culture specimens with care to minimize patient discomfort across age groups.
• Properly labels all specimens in the presence of the patient.
• Operates basic laboratory equipment (centrifuges, computer systems, labeling printers, scanners, etc.).
• Communicates effectively with patients, clients, and staff.
• Performs clerical duties such as filing, report distribution, processing, and faxing.
• Collects drug screens using Chain of Custody Process when applicable.

Responsible for blood and blood culture collection; non-blood specimen collection including urine, sputum, semen samples, throat swabs; chain of custody specimen collection. Perform venipunctures and skin punctures competently and expediently.

• If applicable, collect drug screens (internal and external) using Chain of Custody Process.
