Qualifications

• ACLS and BCLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• RN licensure and active nursing practice as part of required qualifications.
• At least 1 year of RN experience; surgical services experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education surrounding peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients including IV therapy, preoperative medications, and site verification.
• Participate in briefing, time-out, debriefing and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care with evidence-based practices.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team in the OR.
• Apply nursing process, critical thinking and leadership to safe patient care.
• Assess and document patient condition throughout shift.
• Educate patients and families about medical condition and follow-up.
