Job summary

Marymount Hospital Emergency Department in Garfield Heights—part of the Cleveland Clinic—seeks a Paramedic caregiver to support patient care on a PRN basis. You will assist the Registered Nurse, record vitals, perform EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy, suctioning, and initiate monitoring and therapy as needed.

Minimum qualifications include EMS-Paramedic training and Ohio EMTP licensure, BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, and clinical EMS experience. ITLS and hospital/ambulance experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic training program.
• Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross upon hire or within one year of start date in the Emergency Department.
• Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic training program.

Responsibilities

• Provide duties that assist in providing patient care in the Emergency Department under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Obtain and record vital signs.
• Perform EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy and oral, nasal and ET suctioning.
• Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy and saline locks.
• Notify the RN and/or physician of rhythm changes.
• Apply orthopaedic appliances and simple splints.
• Size crutches and teach crutch walking.
• Assist with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, LP, etc.
• Assist with restraint and seclusion of patients and apply restraint devices.
• Transport patients and specimens.
• Assist with sterile procedures and cleaning and maintaining supplies and equipment.
• Maintain confidentiality and respect patient privacy.
• Perform fluid/drug administration.

EMS-Paramedic training program

EMT-Paramedic license in Ohio

BLS Certification (AHA/Red Cross)

ACLS Certification (AHA/Red Cross)

PALS Certification (AHA/Red Cross within hire or within one year)
