Job summary

Marymount Hospital's Emergency Department within the Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a Paramedic to join the 24/7 ED team. You will assist in patient care under RN supervision, perform EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy, and support monitoring and resuscitation efforts. Candidates must complete an accredited EMS-Paramedic program, hold OH EMTP license, BLS/ACLS; PALS within one year. Shift 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m. with weekends/holidays; benefits information at Cleveland Clinic careers.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic training program.
  • Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within one year of start date.
  • Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic training program.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing patient care in the Emergency Department under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Obtain and record vital signs.
  • Perform EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy and oral, nasal and ET suctioning.
  • Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy and saline locks.
  • Notify the RN and/or physician of rhythm changes.
  • Apply orthopedic appliances and simple splints.
  • Size crutches and teach crutch walking.
  • Assist with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, lumbar puncture, etc.
  • Assist with restraint and seclusion of patients and apply restraint devices.
  • Transport patients and specimens.
  • Assist with sterile procedures and cleaning and maintaining supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect patient privacy.
  • Perform fluid/drug administration.
  • Support the team in providing high‑quality emergency care.

Position Overview

Marymount Hospital's Emergency Department provides 24/7 emergency services, ranging from minor injuries to critical and resuscitative care, for patients of all ages. This role is an excellent opportunity for a student who is looking to start their nursing career at Cleveland Clinic and work in a supportive and caring environment. Paramedics provide emergency treatment, including advanced life support, to patients in emergencies. The Paramedic's role is to assess the urgent medical needs of patients and stabilize their conditions. Paramedics are the most highly trained emergency medical responders.

Shift Details

A caregiver in this position works day/evening/night/weekend shifts from 7:00 p.m. — 7:30 a.m. with weekend and holiday requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited EMS‑Paramedic training program.
  • Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician‑Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or within one year of start date.
  • Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic training program.
Preferred Qualifications
  • International Trauma Life Support (ITLS).
  • One year of experience as an EMT‑P.
  • Experience in a hospital setting or city ambulance.
Physical Requirements
  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye‑hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
  • Medium work – exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical demand requirements exceed those for light work.
Personal Protective Equipment
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $22.00 — Maximum hourly: $32.00. The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education.
