Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic training program.
• Current licensure as an EMTP (Ohio).
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required or to be obtained by hire.
• Clinical EMS experience in paramedic duties relevant to ED care.

Responsibilities

• Provide duties that assist in patient care in the ED under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Obtain and record vital signs.
• Perform EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy and nal/oral, nasal and ET suctioning.
• Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy and saline locks.
• Notify the RN and/or physician of rhythm changes.
• Apply orthopedic appliances and simple splints.
• Size crutches and teach crutch walking.
• Assist with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, LP, etc.
• Assist with restraint and seclusion of patients and apply restraint devices.
• Transport patients and specimens.
• Assist with sterile procedures and cleaning and maintaining supplies and equipment.
• Maintain confidentiality and respect patient privacy.
• Perform fluid/drug administration.
