Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a PRN On-Call Chaplain at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights. You will join a Magnet-recognized facility and provide spiritual care to patients, families and staff, with on-call responsibilities and 24/7 availability. On-site within 30 minutes is required.

The role emphasizes education, crisis support, and collaboration with physicians, nurses and caregivers across faiths. PRN hours and nights with on-call shifts ensure continuous chaplaincy coverage.

Qualifications

• Satisfactory completion of a minimum of four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education
• Bachelor’s degree, 3 years of ministry experience & satisfactory completion of one (1) or two (2) units of CPE with expectation to get four (4) CPEs within two (2) years of hire
• Credentialing, certification, or eligibility within two (2) years by a certifying organization or ACPE educator
• One (1) year of ministry experience

Chaplains provide spiritual care to patients, families and caregivers, fostering spiritual resources for healing. Spiritual care is a component of healing, so meeting others where they are and helping them during troubled waters is a vital part of a Chaplain’s role.

A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) on-call hours. You must have availability 24/7 and be on-site within 30 mins.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide education and consultation for physicians, nurses, and other caregivers.

• Provide spiritual care and counseling for patients, families and caregivers of all faith groups, ages and conditions.

• Foster spiritual resources for healing.

• Provide crisis and ongoing care.

• Work regular and on-call hours.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Satisfactory completion of a minimum of four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education

• OR Bachelor’s degree, 3 years of ministry experience & satisfactory completion of one (1) or two (2) units of Clinical Pastoral Education with expectation to get four (4) CPEs within two (2) years of hire

• Credentialing, certification, or eligibility within two (2) years by a certifying organization or certification as an Association of Clinical Pastor Education (ACPE educator)

• One (1) year of ministry experience

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• Master’s degree of Divinity or equivalent

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to climb stairs, pull, push, and facilitate movement of the patient.
• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
• Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
• Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment.
• In some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital system.
• In some locations ability to move up to 25 lbs.
