Transylvania Regional Hospital in Morganton, NC is seeking a Nurse Extern (PRN) to gain hands-on experience within the nursing team while pursuing your RN path. You will participate in patient care activities and learn under supervision, applying skills in a real clinical setting.

Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, vital signs, wound and catheter care, documentation, and patient education.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required within 30 days of start date.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of start date.
• Certified Nursing Assistant credential (CNA) is required.
• Enrollment in an accredited nursing program is required.

Responsabilités

• Providing essential care for patients by helping with ADLs, checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort.
• Performing basic nursing tasks such as wound care, catheter care, specimen collection, and other procedures as competency grows.
• Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Help patients and families understand care plans and offer guidance for health and recovery.
• Maintain clean and safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices and managing equipment.
• Engage in learning opportunities and collaborate with supervisor or preceptor to build your personal career development plan.
