Job summary

Transylvania Regional Hospital in Brevard, North Carolina, is seeking a Nurse Extern for PRN opportunities. You’ll join the nursing team to gain hands-on experience in the Registered Nurse role while delivering safe, compassionate care under supervision.

This role provides exposure to ADLs, vital signs, wound care, documentation, family education, infection prevention, and career development planning as you progress through your nursing program.

Qualifications

• BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) required within 30 days of start date
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90 days of start date
• CNA certification required
• Enrolled in accredited nursing program

Responsibilities

• Providing essential care for patients by helping with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene
• Performing nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as you gain experience
• Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team to keep patient care seamless and coordinated
• Helping patients and families understand their care plans and offering guidance for their health and recovery
• Keeping patient areas clean and safe by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environment
• Championing your growth and enhancing patient care by engaging in learning opportunities, sharing ideas to improve care, and partnering with your supervisor or preceptor to build your personal career development plan
