Job summary

Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC is seeking a Nurse Extern to join the nursing team and gain hands-on experience in the Registered Nurse role while delivering safe, compassionate care. You will work closely with experienced staff to build essential clinical skills and confidence as you progress through your nursing program.

In this extern role you will assist with ADLs, monitor vital signs, support mobility, and help document care.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in accredited nursing program is required.
• CNA certification required or in process.
• BCLS certification within 30 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential care for patients by helping with ADLs and monitoring vital signs.
• Document care accurately and communicate updates with the nursing team.
• Assist with wound care, catheter care, specimens, and other basic procedures.
• Educate patients and families about care plans and recovery.
• Maintain infection prevention, safety, and organized environments.
• Support growth through learning opportunities and development planning with your supervisor.
