Job summary

Qualifications

• Technical skills related to laboratory testing and procedures.
• Adheres to safety, HIPAA and regulatory requirements; protects patient information.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to changing priorities.
• Maintain equipment, records and participate in quality assessment activities.
• Educate and train new staff in medical laboratory settings.

Responsibilities

• Follows safety policies including PPE, handwashing, and hazardous waste handling.
• Participates in laboratory and hospital performance improvement activities.
• Evaluates new laboratory techniques and assists with data collection and special projects.
• Maintains laboratory equipment and spaces through cleaning and disinfection.
• Facilitates workflow and supports education to clinical staff; performs pre-analytical activities.
• Conducts post-analytical activities including reporting results and providing technical support.
• Completes tests and analytical procedures according to SOPs.
• Participates in proficiency testing and adheres to regulations and policies.
• May act as a preceptor for orientation and training of new employees.
• Offers guidance to technicians and resolves customer service issues.
