Job summary

Texas Oncology is seeking a PRN Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to support the Cedar Park, Georgetown East, Harker Heights, Round Rock North, Leander and Marble Falls locations. This full-time role runs Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm as needed with no weekends, call, or major holidays.

Position can be hired at Level 1, 2, or Sr based on experience. The MLS performs moderate/high complexity testing, maintains quality control, and may supervise in the absence of a supervisor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related health care field (or equivalent).
• Associate's Degree plus four years of related work experience.
• Eight years of related work experience.
• Current state license if required; licensure/certification requirements vary by state.
• AMT, ASCP or equivalent certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with performing moderate and high complexity laboratory testing.
• Maintains and calibrates laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Follows quality control policies and documents QC activities and instrument maintenance.
• Performs specimen collection and may assist with phlebotomy as needed.
• Trains employees in laboratory procedures and may supervise daily activities in absence of a supervisor.
• Ensures proper documentation of test results and confidentiality of patient information.
• Prepares reagents and manages inventory to ensure viable supplies for tests.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related health care field

Associate's Degree + Four (4) years of related work experience

Eight (8) years of related work experience

Current state license if required

AMT, ASCP or equivalent certification preferred
