Job summary

St. David's Round Rock Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, seeks a PRN Medical Technologist to perform moderate and high complexity testing. You will analyze results, ensure specimen integrity, and troubleshoot systems in a busy acute-care lab.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Medical Technology, MT certification eligibility or full MT cert, and 2 years' generalist and blood bank experience preferred. Training starts at 0530 for 6 weeks, 3 days weekly.

Qualifications

• 2 years of generalist and blood bank experience in acute care setting – preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field
• Graduation from a clinical rotation or internship from an accredited medical technology program OR 50-week military training course or acceptable equivalent which results in eligibility to take registry exam in medical technology (Clinical Laboratory Science)

Responsibilities

• Perform moderate and high complexity testing and follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting, and maintaining patient result records
• Receive specimens, print labels, enter and verify patient data without errors
• Operate and troubleshoot test systems
• Identify problems which may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results
• Ensure that test selection and reference ranges are age-appropriate
• Ensure timely availability of laboratory results
• Perform quality control activities appropriate to each assay performed and respond appropriately to outlier results
• Participate in proficiency testing activities in each applicable technical area
