Job summary

MUSC Health Florence Medical Center is seeking a PRN Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technologist to perform routine and specialized tests, prepare specimens, and operate lab instruments. The role emphasizes accuracy, QA, and compliant documentation in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Minimum education is NAACLS-approved MLT/MT program; ASCP/AMT/NCA/HEW certification preferred. Experience 1–2 years is ideal but new grads are welcome. Sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited/NAACLS approved program for Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic medical lab tests as requested by healthcare staff according to established protocols and procedures.
• Prepares specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures.
• Operates automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
• Performs quality control and assurance procedures.
• Records lab results in specified system.
• Follows HIPAA privacy, safety, and biohazard procedures and standards.
