Job summary

MUSC Health Florence Medical Center is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) to join our laboratory team on a full-time basis. The position uses NAACLS-accredited training and requires ASCP/AMT/NCA/HEW certification, with 1–2 years of lab experience preferred, though new grads are welcome.

We operate in an environment with 40 hours per week, hourly pay, and a commitment to HIPAA, safety, and high-quality diagnostic testing.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited/NAACLS approved program for Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).
• Certification: ASCP, AMT, NCA, or HEW required.
• One to two years’ experience working in an accredited laboratory preferred but will gladly accept new grads!

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic medical lab tests as requested by healthcare staff according to established protocols and procedures.
• Prepares specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures.
• Operates automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
• Performs quality control and assurance procedures.
• Records lab results in specified system.
• Follows all required HIPAA privacy, safety, and biohazard procedures and standards.
