Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina Florence is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) / Medical Technologist (MT) to join the team on a PRN basis in Florence, SC. You will perform routine and specialized diagnostic lab tests, prepare specimens, operate automated instruments, and ensure quality control while following HIPAA privacy and biohazard procedures.

Educational requirements include a NAACLS-approved program for MLT/MT, with certification (ASCP/AMT/NCA/HEW) and 1–2 years of lab

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited/NAACLS approved program for Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).
• Certification: ASCP, AMT, NCA, or HEW required.
• Experience: 1–2 years in an accredited laboratory preferred; new grads considered.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of routine and specialized diagnostic laboratory tests as requested by healthcare staff.
• Prepares specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures.
• Operates automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment; performs quality control and assurance procedures.
• Records lab results in the specified system; adheres to HIPAA privacy and safety standards.
