Job summary

MUSC Health Florence Medical Center is seeking a PRN Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technologist to perform a variety of diagnostic tests in a high-volume laboratory setting.

Education at an NAACLS-approved program is required; ASCP/AMT/NCA/HEW certifications are preferred. Prior lab experience is valued, but new grads are welcome to apply. This position operates on an hourly pay scale in a hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an NAACLS approved program for Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).
• ASCP, AMT, NCA, or HEW certification preferred.
• 1–2 years’ experience in an accredited lab preferred but new grads considered.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and specialized diagnostic medical lab tests as requested by healthcare staff according to established protocols.
• Prepares specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures.
• Operates automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
• Performs quality control and assurance procedures and records lab results.
