Job summary

Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) at Summerville Medical Center is seeking personnel for a PRN Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist role. Shift: 6 hours per week.

Responsibilities include preparing specimens, running routine tests, quality control, and instrument troubleshooting. Qualifications include an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, ASCP BOC certification (or within 1 year if not certified), and eligibility for career ladder progression from MLT to MT

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology is required.
• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology is preferred/required for higher levels.
• Certification by ASCP BOC (or equivalent) must be obtained within first year if not already certified.

Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for testing and perform routine laboratory tests.
• Perform quality control and maintenance procedures.
• Recognize computer data problems and troubleshoot laboratory instruments.
• Communicate technical information to medical and lay persons.
• Assist with training laboratory personnel and participate in continuing education.
