Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Texas is seeking a PRN Nursing Assistant to join the nursing pool. The role supports patient care across outpatient clinics, assisting LVNs, RNs, physicians, and physician assistants, and works on an as-needed basis.

The position is part-time, pays hourly, with a typical schedule Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm, potentially involving travel up to 25% for certain duties.

Position Description

A job involving an appointment for infrequent temporary work where the employee is called in as needed.

Employees in this classification are responsible for performing awide variety of care activities in an assigned specialty orsubspecialty outpatient clinic on an as-needed basis. The incumbentis assigned per the direction of the section manager of the PRNnursing pool. Work is performed as part of the total healthcareteam to provide complete patient evaluations/assessments.

Major/Essential Functions

• Collaborate with LVNs, RNs, physicians, and physicianassistants to support patient care
• Welcome patients and escort them to exam rooms, ensuring acomfortable experience
• Perform patient triage, assessing urgency and clinicalneeds
• Record vital signs and obtain brief medical history forprovider review
• Administer oral and injectable medications as prescribed by thephysician

Occasional Duties

Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Graduation from an approved certified program for assistants inthe area of required specialty. Certification by an approvedaccredited certifying agency in the specialty in which theparticular work will be performed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in Cerner
• Prior experience in a clinical setting
