University Hospitals in Elyria is seeking a PRN Specimen Processor Phlebotomist to support specimen procurement and processing for the inpatient population. Responsibilities

• Performs specimen procurement and processing; supports lab functions.
• Organizes tasks to meet department turnaround time standards.
• Performs data entry and lab processes including sterile technique, aliquoting and phlebotomy.
• Processes specimens for laboratory testing.
• Acts as trainer and resource to other Specimen Processor Phlebotomists.
• Requires minimal supervision and solves problems with little or no supervision.
• Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all policies and standards.

• Performs specimen procurement and/or processing of laboratory specimens. Provides laboratory support functions.
• Organizes and performs tasks efficiently to meet departmental turnaround time standards.
• Performs computer data entry, laboratory processes including sterile technique, aliquoting and/or phlebotomy
• Processes specimens for laboratory testing
• Competent in the collection or processing of specialized samples.
• Performs with minimal error rate.
• Acts as a trainer and is a resource to other Specimen Processor Phlebotomists.
• Needs minimal supervision and problems solves with little or no supervision.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.

• Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients.
• Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
• This position is PRN.
• The shifts that are available are 2nd shift will start at 1:30 PM for an 8 hour shift. 3rd shift will start at 9:00 PM for a 10 hour shift.
• Will provide coverage for UH employees on PTO, LOA and staffing shortages in the department.
• Inpatient population.
• Location is Elyria Medical Center.
