Job summary

Knoxville Hospital and Clinics is seeking a PRN phlebotomist to join our laboratory team. The role involves obtaining blood samples, labeling specimens, and explaining procedures to patients.

The successful candidate will perform daily lab work, follow HIPAA guidelines, and assist with waived tests as needed. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate logs, handling specimens correctly, and reporting results according to lab policy.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy techniques and blood collection protocols.
• Ability to explain procedures to patients and label specimens accurately.
• Must complete annual competency training and maintain certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy from patients using sterile techniques.
• Label, record, and test specimens within required timeframes.
• Record temperatures and maintain daily log of tests.
• Adhere to HIPAA guidelines when using computer and lab systems.
• Report patient results per lab policies.
• Assist with waived coagulation and urinalysis tests as instructed.
