Job summary

Avera Health's Pharmacy team is seeking a licensed pharmacist to ensure safe, effective medication use across the hospital. You will prepare and dispense prescriptions, advise clinicians on drug therapies, monitor patient regimens, and educate patients on medication use.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Interprets, processes, and monitors medication orders for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriateness.
• Provides medication information on proper usage, effects, and adverse effects; performs inventory controls.
• Maintains knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and policies for safe medication delivery.
• Supervises Pharmacy Technicians in unit dosage, IV admixture, and prescription preparation/distribution.
• Mentors students, interns, technicians, and others with career development.
• Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and promotes patient safety.
• Recommends department and facility changes to improve quality of care and services.
• Assists in drug use reviews, patient care audits, and reporting adverse drug reactions.
• Engages in clinical activities such as kinetics, medication therapy monitoring, and educational programs.
• Monitors therapy by analyzing patient data to provide continuum of care across the hospital system.
