Job summary

Avera Health is seeking a Pharmacist to ensure safe, effective medication use for patients of all ages at Avera McKennan Hospital. You will prepare and dispense prescriptions, advise on therapies, monitor regimens, and educate patients on drug use while collaborating with the clinical team.

You will supervise pharmacy technicians, contribute to quality improvement, and participate in ongoing education and research to stay current with medical advancements.

Qualifications

• Pharmacist license in the state of practice is required.

Responsibilities

• Interprets, processes, and monitors medication orders for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriateness.
• Provides medication information on proper usage and potential effects; conducts inventory control during distribution.
• Supervises Pharmacy Technicians in unit dosage, IV admixture, and prescription preparation/distribution.
• Mentors students and interns; participates in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and hospital policies.

Education

Pharmacist license (Board of Pharmacy active in state of practice)
