Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital is seeking a PRN EKG Technician to join the Pulmonary Function Testing team in Mayfield Heights. You will work with nursing staff, AMET, physicians and other EKG technicians to coordinate and perform cardiac testing and ensure timely communication of results.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, and either six months of direct patient care experience or completion of an accredited cardiovascular technology, paramedic, or medical assisting program.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Completion of an accredited cardiovascular technology, paramedic or medical assisting program is acceptable in lieu of experience.
  • Six months of experience in direct patient care or hospital customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic electrocardiograms.
  • Position and connect leads from ECG machines to patient areas.
  • Review patients' records and instruct patients prior to procedures.
  • Monitor patients during procedures and report abnormal findings.
  • Identify and correct wandering, interference and artifacts.
  • Edit and forward results to the attending physician for analysis and interpretation.
  • Maintain EKG equipment and supplies.

The EKG technician will regularly interact with nursing staff, members of the Adult Medical Emergency Team (AMET), physicians, and other EKG technicians to coordinate and perform cardiac testing, ensuretimelycommunication of results, and support patient care across various clinical settings.

This is a PRN role. A caregiver in this position worksbetween 7:00am and 3:30pm or 3:00pm and 11:30pm. Other shifts will be based on facility needs.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Perform diagnostic electrocardiograms.

  • Position andconnectleads from electrocardiograph machines toelectrodes on specified body areas.

  • Review patients’ records and instruct patients prior to the procedure.

  • Monitor patients during procedures and report abnormal findings.

  • Identifyand correct wandering,interferenceand artifacts.

  • Edit and forward results to the attending physician for analysis and interpretation.

  • Maintain EKG equipment and supplies.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Six months of experience related to direct patient care or customer service in a hospital setting

  • OR completion of an accredited cardiovascular technology,paramedicormedicalassistingprogram

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Completion of an accredited cardiovascular technology,paramedicor medical assisting program
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts based on departmental and operational needs.
  • Ability to provide coverage for staffing needs, including scheduled and unscheduled absences.
  • Availability for weekend and holiday coverage as operational needs require.
  • Availability Commitment: Must be available to work 40 hours per week for 1-2 weeks per year as needed to support planned staffing coverage.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Ohio submarkets and to Main Campus for training, coverage and operational support as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical strength to assist patients into position for testing.
  • Physical strength to transport equipment to various locations throughout the Cleveland Clinic facility.
  • Extensive walking and standing.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
