Job summary

Dallas County, IA seeks a Court Services Sheriff Deputy on a PRN/as-needed basis to perform responsible law enforcement within the Court Services Division. The role requires acceptance of flexible scheduling and certification as a peace officer in Iowa, with duties spanning security, investigations, and rapid response to incidents.

Responsibilities include operating security equipment, collaborating with Judges and staff, enforcing court orders, and preparing detailed reports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years related law enforcement experience.
• Valid State of Iowa Driver License required.
• Must be a certified peace officer in the State of Iowa.
• Must meet Iowa Law Enforcement Academy requirements.
• Must complete recertification courses.

Responsibilities

• Operate x-ray and magnetometer equipment in Court Services areas.
• Detect security issues and monitor activity with surveillance equipment.
• Prepare daily logs of contraband, baggage, and people entering areas.
• Work with Judges, Attorneys, and court personnel to preserve peace and security.
• Respond to calls with diverse incidents; provide guidance to the public.
• Conduct preliminary investigations; gather statements; collect evidence; sketch scenes.
• Apprehend/arrest suspects; transport offenders; enforce court orders.
• Write detailed reports; pursue specialty assignments with experience.
