Job summary

Dallas County Sheriff's Office is seeking a PRN Sheriff Deputy to perform essential law enforcement duties across the Court Services Division. The role requires the ability to cover flexible hours and locations as needed, while maintaining public safety and order.

Candidates must be certified peace officers in Iowa and able to meet ongoing training requirements. Duties include operating security equipment, responding to incidents, and supporting court personnel with investigations and outreach.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Certified peace officer in Iowa and ability to meet ILEA requirements.
• Experience in law enforcement preferred but not required for PRN status.

Responsibilities

• Operate x-ray and magnetometer equipment.
• Detect security issues with surveillance equipment.
• Prepare daily activity logs of contraband, baggage and persons.
• Interact with Judges, Attorneys, court personnel and staff to maintain peace.
• Execute operations plans in assigned areas.
• Respond to calls and incidents including domestic disputes and crimes.
• First responder at scenes; provide basic life support and death notifications.
• Conduct preliminary investigations and collect evidence; document findings.
