Job summary

Cantex Continuing Care Network is seeking a Certified Medication Aide to administer oral and topical medications to residents at Sundance Inn Health Center in New Braunfels, TX. The role operates under physician orders and nursing supervision, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while supporting residents' health and well-being.

The position requires state Nursing Assistant certification and a medication administration certification, with English literacy.

Qualifications

• State certification as a Nursing Assistant.
• State approved medication administration certification.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Administers medications as ordered by a physician under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with state and federal regulations and facility policy.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the five rights of medication administration.
• May take and record vital signs of patients/residents as assigned or as required by medications.
• Records the administration of medications and/or treatments appropriately.
• Observes for and reports any reactions and/or side effects of medications to a licensed nurse.
• Administers PRN medications in accordance with state and federal regulations and facility policy.
• Documents reason for and response to PRN medications promptly.
• May dispense narcotics and accounts for them under supervision.
• Keeps medication carts/rooms clean and organized per policy.
• Attends facility education in-services.
