Qualifications

• State certification as a Nursing Assistant mandatory.
• State approved medication administration certification (where required).
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.

Responsibilities

• Administers medications as ordered by a physician under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with state and federal regulations and facility policy.
• Observes for and reports any reactions and/or side effects of medications to a licensed nurse.
• Records the administration of medications and/or treatments appropriately.
• Manages PRN medications in compliance with regulations and policy.
• Maintains medication carts/rooms in a clean and organized state per regulations.
• Attends facility education in-services.
• May supervise nursing assistants/orderlies as assigned.
• Ensures expired medications are removed for destruction per policy.
• Participates in QA meetings and adheres to clinical policies.
