Job summary

Cantex Continuing Care Network in San Antonio, TX, seeks a Certified Medication Aide to administer medications to residents under the supervision of a licensed nurse, following physician orders and all state/federal rules. The role also focuses on the residents’ health, comfort and daily well-being.

You must hold a state Nursing Assistant certification and, where required, a state-approved medication administration certification. Candidates should read, write, and speak English proficiently.

Qualifications

• State certification as a Nursing Assistant mandatory.
• State approved medication administration certification (where required).
• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.

Responsibilities

• Administers medications as ordered by a physician under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with state and federal regulations and facility policy.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the five rights of medication administration.
• Records the administration of medications and/or treatments appropriately.
• Observes for and reports any reactions and/or side effects of medications to a licensed nurse.
• May dispense narcotics and must account for them under supervision.
• Attends facility education in-services.
