Job summary

Atlas Search in Boston is seeking a Fund Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting for private investment funds, ensuring accuracy under US GAAP and complex fund structures.

You will lead junior staff, manage capital calls, distributions, waterfalls, and reporting, coordinating with auditors and investment teams in a hybrid Boston work environment.

This role offers broad exposure across private equity strategies and opportunities to improve processes and controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in accounting/finance.
• 4+ years in private equity/fund accounting.
• Strong understanding of ASC 946 and investment company accounting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting and operations for private investment funds and related entities.
• Take ownership of assigned funds with limited oversight from senior leadership.
• Review NAV calculations, general ledger activity, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Review capital calls, distributions, allocations, fees, carried interest, waterfalls, and IRRs.
• Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
• Interpret fund documents (LPAs, side letters, agreements) to determine accounting requirements.
• Support accounting for complex fund structures (parallel funds, SPVs, co-investments).
• Oversee new fund launches and initial setup of accounting/reporting processes.
• Coordinate with auditors, tax professionals, investment teams, and other stakeholders.
• Mentor and review work of junior accounting professionals.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and reporting.
