Job description

Location: Houston, TX (in-office, full-time)

Arco is partnered with an established Houston-based energy private capital firm with a long track record across upstream oil and gas, midstream, power, and the broader energy value chain. The investment team comes from tier-one institutions and works alongside a deeply experienced in-house technical group, giving the platform both financial and technical depth few peers can match.

About the role

This is a career-track Associate seat on the firm's flagship private equity fund. The Associate works the full deal and portfolio cycle alongside senior investors and the technical team, with early exposure to management and to live transactions.

The seat suits an intellectually curious investor who wants deep energy sector exposure, particularly across upstream and midstream, and responsibility early. Deal teams run lean, mentorship is heavy, and Associates are expected to speak up and engage directly with senior partners and management teams.

Key responsibilities
  • Source, screen, and evaluate energy investment opportunities
  • Build and own integrated financial and valuation models
  • Run diligence workstreams end to end and author investment committee materials
  • Work with portfolio companies alongside management on capital structure, growth, M&A, and hedging, in partnership with the in-house technical team
  • Contribute in a collegial bullpen environment with direct exposure to senior partners
Skills and experience
  • Undergraduate degree from a competitive university with a strong academic record
  • Experience in the energy sector, ideally at an energy investment bank or a principal energy investing firm, or equivalent experience
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation ability, with analytical rigor
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • A desire to focus on energy, with a particular focus on upstream and midstream, and build a long-term career in energy private equity
What's on offer
  • Career-track role at a well-capitalized platform with active deployment across private equity, credit, and infrastructure strategies
  • Direct exposure to live deal execution and senior investment leadership
  • Close collaboration with an in-house technical team
  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package
