Job summary

Homestead Health Care in Michigan is seeking Private Duty caregivers to support elderly clients in the Macomb area. You will provide both physical and emotional assistance, forming meaningful connections while on 4 to 12-hour flexible shifts starting at $17 per hour.

Responsibilities include transferring clients with devices, assisting with daily activities, health monitoring, documentation, meal prep, and companionship. Weekend availability and a valid driver license are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years caregiving experience.
• Experience passing medications.
• Able to pass a criminal background check.
• Valid Driver License/Insurance.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Reliable transportation.
• Travel up to 25 miles.
• Weekend availability.

Responsibilities

• Use transfer assistive devices (Hoyer lifts, sit-to-stand, gait belts, slide board).
• Assist residents with daily living activities (transfers, bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, walking).
• Evaluate changes in health and inform the supervisor.
• Maintain cleanliness; light housekeeping.
• Use and care for devices (catheters, colostomy bags, oxygen).
• Communicate health changes to supervisor promptly.
• Develop meaningful life enrichment activities.
• Follow schedule; reposition residents as needed.
• Transport clients to appointments or shopping.
• Complete required documents and charting.
• Plan, shop for and prepare nutritious meals.
• Provide companionship.
• Follow Homestead policies and procedures.

• Evaluate changes in client’s health, conferring with other healthcare team members as needed
• Maintaining the cleanliness of the environment which may include light housekeeping
• Use and cleaning of devices such as catheters, colostomy bags and oxygen supplies
• Assess for changes in condition and communicate immediately to supervisor
• Develop and implement meaningful life enrichment activities
• Following schedule, assisting residents with repositioning
• Transport client to doctors’ appointments or shopping
• Complete all required documents and charting
• Plan, shop for and prepare nutritious meals
• Provide companionship for the client
• Follow all Homestead policies and procedures

Requirements
