Job summary

Homestead Health Care in Clinton Township, MI is seeking Private Duty caregivers to support elderly clients in their homes. Flexible 4 to 12-hour shifts and start pay of $18.00 per hour. If you have experience visiting clients’ homes, we’d like to speak with you.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of caregiving experience.
• Experience passing medications.
• Able to pass a criminal background check.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Reliable transportation and travel up to 25 miles.
• Weekend availability required.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with transferring, bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility.
• Use assistive devices (Hoyer lifts, gait belts, slide boards) as needed.
• Monitor health, report changes to supervisor.
• Maintain a clean environment and assist with light housekeeping.
• Prepare nutritious meals and provide companionship.
• Complete required documentation and charting.
• Transport clients to appointments and run errands.

Responsibilities

• Use of transfer assistive devices, including but not limited to Hoyer lifts, sit to stand, gait belts and slide board
• Assisting residents with daily living activities such as transferring in and out of bed, bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming and walking
• Evaluate changes in client’s health, conferring with other healthcare team members as needed
• Maintaining the cleanliness of the environment which may include light housekeeping
• Use and cleaning of devices such as catheters, colostomy bags and oxygen supplies
• Assess for changes in condition and communicate immediately to supervisor
• Develop and implement meaningful life enrichment activities
• Following schedule, assisting residents with repositioning
• Transport client to doctors’ appointments or shopping
• Complete all required documents and charting
• Plan, shop for and prepare nutritious meals
• Provide companionship for the client
• Follow all Homestead policies and procedures

Requirements
