Job summary

Homestead Health Care in Livonia, MI is hiring Private Duty caregivers to provide physical and emotional support to elderly clients. Flexible 4–12 hour shifts start at $18 per hour, with opportunities to grow.

You will assist with daily living activities, monitor health, maintain a clean environment, and provide companionship. A valid driver license, reliable transportation, and weekend availability are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of caregiving experience.
• Experience passing medications.
• Able to pass a criminal background check.
• Valid Driver License/Insurance required.
• Reliable transportation required.
• Travel within 25 miles of Livonia, MI.
• Weekend availability required.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with transfers using devices (Hoyer lifts, gait belts, slide board).
• Assist with daily living activities (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, mobility).
• Evaluate changes in health and report to supervisor.
• Maintain clean environment; light housekeeping.
• Use and clean clinical devices (catheters, colostomy bags, oxygen).
• Assess condition changes and communicate promptly to supervisor.
• Develop and implement meaningful life enrichment activities.
• Follow schedule and assist with repositioning.
• Transport clients to appointments or shopping.
• Complete required documents and charting.
• Plan shop for and prepare nutritious meals.
• Provide companionship to clients.
• Follow Homestead policies and procedures.

• Use of transfer assistive devices, including but not limited to Hoyer lifts, sit to stand, gait belts and slide board
• Assisting residents with daily living activities such as transferring in and out of bed, bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming and walking
• Evaluate changes in client’s health, conferring with other healthcare team members as needed
• Maintaining the cleanliness of the environment which may include light housekeeping
• Use and cleaning of devices such as catheters, colostomy bags and oxygen supplies
• Assess for changes in condition and communicate immediately to supervisor
• Develop and implement meaningful life enrichment activities
• Following schedule, assisting residents with repositioning
• Transport client to doctors’ appointments or shopping

• Plan, shop for and prepare nutritious meals
• Provide companionship for the client
• Follow all Homestead policies and procedures
