Role Summary
A senior operations consultant is needed to drive operational strategy, readiness, and design for a newly launching rated note fund serviced by a third-party administrator. Sitting within the Operational Strategy & Delivery (OS&D) team, this role serves as an independent, hands-on advisor across the private credit and fund operations lifecycle. Success requires active collaboration across loan operations, fund operations, finance, data, and technology to establish robust operating models and internal execution workflows.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operating Model & Process Design
- Define target-state operating models, mapping responsibilities between the firm and the fund administrator to support MSA and SLA negotiations.
- Develop operational procedures and playbooks across six workstreams: Cash Management, Fund Administration, Monthly/Quarterly Reporting, Compliance & Waterfall, Rating Agency, and Loan Servicing & Reconciliation.
- Establish consistent standards for capturing deal terms, modifications, and lifecycle events across systems of record.
2. Readiness & Risk Management
- Identify control points, handoffs, and exception paths to surface and mitigate gaps threatening the November 1 readiness target.
- Contribute to operational readiness assessments and drive remediation with workstream owners, specifically addressing complex loan structures in scope.
3. Administrator Oversight & Data/Reporting
- Draft and pressure-test SLA definitions (metrics, accountability, and frequency) and establish an internal oversight model (reconciliation points, reviews, and escalations).
- Define data requirements for compliance testing, waterfall modeling, and reporting; partner with data/technology teams to establish durable fixes for data quality issues.
Standard of Completion
- Validation: All procedures and playbooks must be co-developed and walked through with the internal team member executing the role.
- Readiness: RACI and SLA definitions must be finalized and ready for direct integration into fund administrator discussions.
Qualifications
Required
- Experience: 10+ years in private credit, loan, or fund operations (or fund administration) at an asset manager, alternative firm, insurance investment arm, or administrator.
- Domain Expertise: Deep knowledge of the private credit loan lifecycle, including revolving and delayed draw facilities.
- Third-Party Oversight: Proven client-side experience standing up new fund administrator mandates and defining oversight frameworks.
- Documentation: Track record of producing production-ready operating procedures, playbooks, RACI matrices, and SLAs.
- Competencies: Strong matrixed collaboration, stakeholder alignment, and independent execution skills.
Strongly Preferred
- Direct, hands-on experience with rated note funds or feeder structures (compliance, waterfall mechanics, and reporting).
- Familiarity with rating agency reporting requirements and multi-system infrastructure (IBOR/ABOR, loan administration systems).
- Prior involvement in a fund launch with a hard readiness gate prior to legal close.
- Exposure to direct lending, syndicated loans, unitranche, mezzanine structures, and administrator models (e.g., Alter Domus, State Street, SS&C, Citco, Northern Trust).
- Systems experience with platforms such as WSO, eFront, or Allvue.
Also Useful
- Experience with restructures, workouts, and distressed exchanges.
- Familiarity with AI tooling (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini) for process documentation and dataset analysis.
- Professional certifications (CPA or CFA).
