First Roles is seeking an Associate for its New York investment team. This role offers exposure to the full investment lifecycle across private credit and middle market opportunities.

The successful candidate will evaluate opportunities, model cash flows, and support sponsor-backed transactions from screening through closing, working closely with senior investment professionals in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of experience in investment banking, leveraged finance, direct lending, private credit, structured credit, or related investing role
• Strong financial modeling and credit underwriting capabilities
• Experience analyzing leveraged transactions and corporate credit risk
• Exposure to sponsor-backed transactions and LBO financings

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and underwrite new private credit investment opportunities
• Support sponsor-backed leveraged buyout transactions from initial screening through closing
• Build and maintain detailed financial models, including downside, leverage, liquidity, and cash flow analyses
• Conduct industry, market, customer, and competitive diligence
• Prepare investment memoranda and presentations for internal investment committees
• Participate in all aspects of transaction execution alongside senior investment professionals
• Monitor portfolio company performance, covenant compliance, amendments, refinancings, and add-on investment opportunities
• Track market, sector, and credit developments that may impact portfolio investments
