Job summary

Nielsen Holdings Plc is seeking a Legal Counsel II, Privacy & Data Protection to provide business‑oriented legal advice on U.S. and global privacy matters across Nielsen’s products, services, and partnerships.

The role supports the privacy program and collaborates with Product, Engineering, Data Science, Information Security, and Sales teams. The candidate will advise on privacy compliance, data governance, risk mitigation, and contract terms, including DPAs, DPIAs, and data sharing agreements,

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of privacy, data protection, technology, or related legal work.
• J.D. or equivalent legal qualification and admission to at least one U.S. state bar.
• At least 2 years of experience with U.S. state privacy regulations (CCPA/CPRA) and other comprehensive state privacy laws.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating DPAs and other privacy-related contract terms.
• Strong legal writing, negotiation, analytical, and issue-spotting skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional and international teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day legal guidance on U.S. federal and state privacy laws, including CCPA/CPRA and other privacy requirements.
• Maintain an in-depth working knowledge of state privacy regulations and translate developments into guidance, contracts, policies, and notices.
• Draft, review, and negotiate data processing agreements and privacy provisions in contracts.
• Conduct privacy impact assessments for products and initiatives; identify risks and mitigations.
• Advise on data collection, use, disclosure, retention, and deletion activities for compliant launches.
