Job summary

Nielsen is seeking a Legal Counsel II, Privacy & Data Protection, to advise on U.S. and global privacy matters across products, partnerships, and internal ops. You will draft and negotiate DPAs, support DPIAs, and guide cross-functional teams in privacy compliance and risk mitigation.

Ideal candidates have a J.D., 2+ years in privacy roles, and proven ability to translate complex law into practical contractual guidance for data buyers and sellers.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of privacy, data protection, technology, commercial, or related legal work.
• J.D. or equivalent legal qualification and admission to at least one U.S. state bar.
• At least 2 years of experience with U.S. state privacy regulations, including the CCPA/CPRA.
• At least 2 years of experience with DPIAs/PIAs and privacy risk assessments.
• Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating DPAs and other privacy-related contract terms.
• Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, analytical, and issue-spotting skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional and international teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day legal guidance on U.S. federal and state privacy laws, including CCPA/CPRA and other requirements.
• Translate legal developments into clear guidance, contract language, policies, and notices.
• Draft, review, and negotiate data processing agreements and privacy terms in commercial contracts.
• Conduct and support privacy impact assessments for products, features, and partnerships.
• Support privacy incident responses, regulatory inquiries, and audits.
