Job summary

The Oregon Department of Corrections is hiring one Psychiatrist for the Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem, with potential work at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Wilsonville. Qualifications

• Must hold an MD or DO and complete an approved psychiatric residency.
• Board-eligible or board-certified in general adult psychiatry.
• Unrestricted license to practice medicine in Oregon.
• Valid DEA certification and CPR certification.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct psychiatric assessments and psychotropic medication management for adults in ODOC custody.
• Coordinate care with QMHPs, nurse practitioners, and other physicians.
• Prescribe medications using the ODOC formulary and obtain nonformulary approvals as needed.
• Complete clinical documentation in SOAP format in the medical record.
• Assist with release planning and referrals to community providers as indicated.
• Provide testimony as an expert witness when appropriate.
