Job summary

The State of North Carolina, Department of Adult Correction, Central Prison in Raleigh, NC, is seeking a Grounds Supervisor I (S). You will supervise the grounds crew, oversee maintenance of lawns, sidewalks, gardens, and related facilities, and coordinate with building maintenance staff to maximize equipment use.

This full-time role operates Monday–Friday 8am–5pm and includes benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid leave.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of horticultural practices/techniques for grounds layout and upkeep.
• Working knowledge of landscaping and grounds maintenance practices.
• High School diploma or GED and three years of progressive grounds upkeep experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide construction, modification, and upkeep of grounds areas with horticultural practices.
• Supervise mowing lawns, sidewalks, and gardens; oversee grounds maintenance activities.
• Supervise equipment operators in grounds-related tasks and ensure safe operation.
• Prepare requisitions for supplies, materials, and equipment.
• Coordinate grounds upkeep with building maintenance to optimize equipment use.
• Perform other related work as needed.
