Job summary

Qualifications

• One year of Lead Groundskeeper (Correctional Facility) duties or three years as Groundskeeper (Correctional Facility) in CA state service.
• Four years of planting and maintaining flowers, trees, lawns, shrubs; care of grounds in public parks, large estates, institutions, or highway landscaping; two-year landscape design/landscape gardening substitution available.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and lead landscaping and grounds maintenance of San Quentin State Prison.
• Lay out, design, oversee, and work with inmate crews for beds, lawns, shrubs, trees, and general grounds maintenance.
• Read schematics, plans, and blueprints; prepare material requisitions and coordinate with vendors for quotes.
• Schedule pruning, bud and graft plants, and manage storage and disposal of pesticides and related supplies.
• Ensure readiness of materials and equipment for scheduled work; maintain basic work records.
