Job summary

Akido seeks a Pharmacy Technician - Prior Authorization Specialist to coordinate medication prior authorization requests across all clinics. You will liaise with providers, patients, pharmacies, insurers, and staff to secure timely approvals and ensure continuity of care.

The role requires attention to detail, knowledge of payer processes, and strong communication in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Experience with prior authorizations is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Active Pharmacy Technician registration/license as required by state regulations.
• Minimum of one year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician or related role.
• Experience processing medication prior authorizations with commercial, Medicare, Medicaid.
• Knowledge of pharmacy terminology and insurance benefit structures.
• Experience with EHR and payer authorization portals.

Responsibilities

• Process medication prior authorization requests for all clinic locations.
• Review patient charts and clinical docs before submission.
• Collaborate with providers and clinic staff for supporting info.
• Submit PA requests via payer portals, EHRs, fax, or phone.
• Monitor status and follow up to expedite approvals.
• Communicate determinations to providers and teams.
• Maintain documentation in the EHR.
• Identify delays and improve workflows.
