Job summary

Akido Companies Internal Job Board is seeking a Pharmacy Technician – Prior Authorization Specialist to coordinate medication prior authorizations across clinics. You will liaise with providers, patients, pharmacies, and insurers to ensure timely approvals and maintain complete documentation in the EHR.

The ideal candidate has a valid Pharmacy Technician registration and at least 1 year of relevant experience, with strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills to navigate payer

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Active Pharmacy Technician registration/licensure as required by state regulations.
• Minimum of one year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician or related healthcare role.
• Experience processing medication prior authorizations with commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid plans.
• Knowledge of pharmacy terminology, medication classifications, and insurance benefit structures.
• Experience using EHRs and payer authorization portals.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Process medication prior authorization requests for all clinic locations per payer requirements and standards.
• Review patient charts and clinical documentation for completeness before submission.
• Collaborate with providers and clinic staff to obtain supporting information.
• Submit prior authorization requests through payer portals, electronic systems, fax, or phone.
• Monitor status and follow up with insurers to expedite approvals.
• Communicate determinations, denials, and appeals to providers and teams.
• Maintain accurate documentation in the EHR and monitor turnaround times.
