Job summary

Santa Rosa Junior College is seeking to establish a pool for associate faculty assignments. These may be temporary, part-time and/or on-call, and assignments can occur immediate or as needed. Remote-only work is not offered.

Assignments are paid hourly and may not exceed 67% of a full-time annual load, with starting hourly rates determined by discipline, academic background, and teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s in fine arts, art, or art history
• OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in humanities
• OR the equivalent
• NOTE: “Master’s in fine arts” as used here refers to any master’s degree in the subject matter of fine arts, which is defined to include visual studio arts such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, textiles, and metal and jewelry art; and also art education and art therapy. It does not refer to the “Master of Fine Arts” (MFA) degree when that degree is based on specialization in performing arts or dance, film, video, photography, creative writing or other nonplastic arts).

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent instruction and faculty support to students, which may include evening, weekend, online or hybrid and/or off-campus assignments.
• Provide academic assistance and related services to students during scheduled office hours.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
• Maintain currency in field(s) of expertise.
• Associate faculty focus primarily on providing instruction and/or student services.
• Associate faculty are typically not required to participate in District or department service such as committee work, evaluations, student learning outcomes assessment, and hiring committees, but may be asked to perform these services for additional compensation.
