Job description

The IDL Digital Printing Press Operator operates an assigned printing press to produce printed products on a variety of materials using various colors as prescribed by job tickets or work orders.

The focus of this job is on producing high-quality, detailed work based on established standards, guidelines and procedures. Precise, consistent work output is essential requiring patience and a willingness to handle and complete one task at a time. The job environment is stable, based on well-defined processes. Job knowledge and competency is built through structured step-by-step training and positive, supportive coaching from management and peers. Communication with others is based on knowledge of repetitive job routines and procedures gained from sufficient on-the-job experience. Consistent, error-free work based on defined regulations and standards are key measures of job performance success. The job environment promotes steady, methodical work output so that job routines can be completed on time and error-free. This position is designed to develop a valued technical expert, who can deliver quality work on a consistent basis.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Produces printed sheets per production order.
  • Performs quality checks and maintains required paperwork.
  • Directs press assistant to achieve production schedule.
  • Operates assigned equipment safely in accordance with company and OSHA safety programs and rules.
  • Performs work in accordance with approved procedures and work instructions.
  • Monitors Quality Points at work station and records required data.
  • Reports quality and production concerns and issues to the supervisor.
  • Cross trains on all workstations within the department.
  • Conducts preventative maintenance on all assigned equipment according to the preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • 3+ years of previous Print Operating experience preferred.
  • Basic degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
  • Basic analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
  • Basic verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
  • Basic understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.
  • Possess a mechanical aptitude; ability to use a large variety of hand tools and basic knowledge of power tools, forklifts, welding equipment, and cutting torch.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.
PHYSICAL ASPECTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear and see.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold & heat, risk of electrical shock, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment may be high.

The IDL Digital Printing Press Operator is a full-time position working on site at our manufacturing facility, located in East Butler, PA. This is a daylight role working Monday - Thursday.
